Maybe it was a way to say that they were uncivilized because they ate bark. Or maybe it was a friendly way to make fun of a neighboring tribe. Where Is the Adirondack Mountains Region Located? For many of you unfamiliar with the Adirondacks, it’s important to understand that this region is located in Northern New York, particularly in the upstate part of the state. As a matter of fact, to make it easier for you to understand the location as specifically as possible, please take some time to think about it this way. It’s typically a 4-hour drive to reach the region if you are coming to visit from Manhattan. And on the other side of the coin, if you plan to visit from Montréal, Canada, you could expect to drive for about two hours to reach the Adirondack Mountains. As you can see, it’s easier to get to the Adirondacks from Montréal than it is to get there from Manhattan. So there’s a brief geography lesson to help you better understand precisely where the region is located. Are There Things to Do When Visiting the Adirondack Mountains? Absolutely! There are certainly plenty of things to do when visiting. In fact, there are many wonderful outdoor recreation activities, lots of attractions, plenty of shopping, many great restaurants and lots of wonderful events. Everything is open for business all year round, and quite frankly, people from all over Canada and the US regularly visit the area because it is so beautiful. At the end of the day, the Adirondack Mountains will have visitors from Vermont, New York, New Jersey, Connecticut and certain parts of Canada. It truly is a wonderful place to visit and you can’t go wrong soaking up the wonderful atmosphere in this historic American locale. So there you have it.
